Two blogs posted on OurKingdom today highlight the necessity for this Convention as part of a wider debate about the state of freedoms and democracy in this country. The first comes from Convention co-director Anthony Barnett and discusses the disturbing arrest of Damien Green MP. Anthony sees this as the latest chapter in the breakdown in the relationship between the police and Parliament under Blair, which has produced “despotic” police command. The second is by NO2ID’s Phil Booth and explores the government’s seeming disregard for the opinions of experts who have been saying more must be done to protect our data – for over five years.
